The trickster

"...You are held captive. A prisoner of fate to a future that has been sealed in advance. This is truly an unjust game... Your chances of winning are almost none. But if my voice is reaching you, there may yet be a possibility open to you... ...I beg you. Please overcome this game... and save the world... The key to victory lies within the memories of your bonds—the truth that you and your friends grasped. It all began that day... when the game was started half a year ago... For the sake of your world's future... as well as your own... you must remember..."

Takuto Maruki Sadayo Kawakami Hifumi Togo
Tae Takemi Kasumi Yoshizawa Chihaya Mifune
Caroline & Justine Toranosuke Yoshida Yuuki Mishima

  • 1.Takuto Maruki - Councillor
  • Maruki is a voluntary counselor who cares about the students in the school and sympathizes with Suguru Kamoshida's victims. As a counselor, he is quite friendly to those who reach out to him and is extremely patient, allowing them to control the flow of their conversation. He is alert and quick to pick up on minor comments made by his patients that helps open them up. He is also highly clumsy, quirky and is prone to messing up in comedic situations, unlike most of the other teachers who have no-nonsense, regular personalities. According to Shibusawa, he also has a tendency to charge into things rather impulsively. He is quite popular with the Thieves and even Yusuke from Kosei High School comes to Shujin Academy to take his counseling, making him a popular figure among students and one of the Thieves' greatest sponsors. He also appears to be a skilled cook.

  • 2.Sadayo Kawakami – Temperance
  • Kawakami is a Japanese language and homeroom teacher of class 2-D at Shujin Academy. She appears on the day when the protagonist first arrives at the school on Sunday for registration. The principal assigns the protagonist to her class which is also attended by Ann Takamaki and Yuuki Mishima because it is the only second-year class with a vacancy. Knowing her new student is a juvenile on probation, Kawakami displays anxiety and expects a tougher male teacher would be more suitable to handle such a student, and complains to Kamoshida who claims that he would kick students like the protagonist right away if they were to do anything.

  • 3.Hifumi Togo – Star
  • Hifumi is a young lady who attends Kosei High School. She holds the championship title in the Female Shogi League. Her appearance has gained her attention as the "too beautiful shogi player." She practices hard and gives interviews every day for the sake of her mother and for the world of shogi. She is widely disliked for suspicions of fixing her matches-rumors that turn out to be mostly true, as while she is innocent, her mother bribes her competitors. The protagonist meets Hifumi in a church located in Kanda.

  • 4.Tae Takemi – Death
  • Takemi is a somewhat eccentric young woman. She dresses like a punk and has a morbid sense of humor, reacting with glee when she gets the protagonist to try out a new medicine, watching him squirm. Due to her bad reputation, she can easily tell when one of her patients has an ulterior motive, as those kind of patients are all she gets. Her reputation as "the Plague" has made her highly cynical and insecure, claiming that she's only good for making experimental drugs, even after being praised for curing a young girl.

  • 5.Kasumi Yoshizawa - Faith
  • Kasumi is an accomplished gymnast living alongside her sister Sumire Yoshizawa and the twins' father Shinichi Yoshizawa, who was the host of a talk show at Akasaka Mitsuke. They also lived alongside their mother and grandmother. She and Sumire had been practicing gymnastics since childhood under Coach Hiraguchi who trained them with a spartan degree, although Kasumi had a much more natural and shorter learning curve compared to her younger sister. She also decides most of the matters between the Yoshizawa twins, including designing Sumire's bedroom. This excludes preparing the dishes since she cannot do them properly.

  • 6.Chihaya Mifune – Fortune
  • Chihaya is a cheerful woman with a lovely atmosphere about her, with a rumor of her fortunes being infallible. This is the most part accurate as her predictions have an uncanny ability to be properly divined down to the most minute details. As a result, she can be fatalistic in her belief that fates cannot be changed even when giving her clients readings with terrible outcomes, as most have inexplicably resulted in such a way.

  • 7.Caroline & Justine – Strength
  • Caroline has a very classical tsundere (someone who acts mean-spirited and aloof to disguise any affectionate feelings) attitude towards the protagonist. Additionally, she doesn't seem to hold the protagonist in very high regard, as she refers to him as "inmate," and kicks him into the Velvet Room whenever he goes to enter. She is generally ill-tempered and impatient, even after the twins' Confidant levels up and she grows to respect the protagonist as a friend. There are certain inconsistencies between how she seems and her real personality, and as according to Justine, she was mortified when she first witnessed Persona fusion and practiced intimidating poses to use on the protagonist but is too embarrassed to use them. She tends to speak to Justine in a demeaning manner. Justine, in contrast, appears to be calm and soft-spoken, but still treats the protagonist as her prisoner, often addressing him in a condescending tone. Unlike her sister, she will calmly escort the player to their cell. She is the first to question what their true purpose is, and realizes something is amiss with possessing an intricate bookmark but having no books to read. While guarding an entrance to the Velvet Room, she whittles away at her boredom by spinning her clipboard.

  • 8.Toranosuke Yoshida – Sun
  • As a politician, Yoshida demonstrates impressive speech-giving skills, though due to his past, he naturally suffers from self-esteem issues, especially when someone calls him by his dreaded nickname "No-Good Tora." However, rather than be angry by such slanders, he remains calm and level-headed, even when he is faced against naysayers. This becomes bolstered through the protagonist's encouragements, eventually able to overcome his self-esteem issues.

  • 9.Yuuki Mishima – Moon
  • Bullied, abused and ignored, Mishima is an isolated individual who craves freedom from his day-to-day tortures. He used to be one of the students that Kamoshida likes to abuse and harass the most and often uses him to spread unfavorable rumors to students that he dislikes against his own will. He was also beaten a lot, and was heavily injured when first met.
